Abstract

Corona Virus 19 is a vulnerable disease for those who have
weak immune systems or who are at higher risk, including
pregnant women. During pregnancy, part of the immune
system is suppressed because it must be supplied for the needs
of the baby. The IgG transfer process begins in the first
trimester of pregnancy and ends in the third trimester.
Function of Receptor (FcRn) is a receptor produced by the
syncytiotrophoblast that functions to bind antibodies (IgG)
which will be transferred from mother to fetus through the
placenta. FcRn expression depends on gestational age which
is more expressed in the third trimester. This condition makes
pregnant women more susceptible to infection with the
COVID-19 virus which can have serious consequences for
pregnant women. The Social Distancing program also has an
impact on women's desire to reduce the frequency of prenatal
visits. This also has an impact on not detecting fetal well-
being on a regular basis and pregnancy danger signs that are
not known to the mother. This study aims to determine the
effect of self care on the quality of life of pregnant women
during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research method uses a
quasi-experimental one group pretest posttest design, in
which the research subjects are first given a pretest (pretest)
and then given treatment using a module. Furthermore, a
final test (posttest) was given to determine the extent of the
effect of self-care on improving the quality of life of pregnant
women during the Covid-19 pandemic. The results of the
statistical test of improving the quality of life showed the value
of Z = 4.689 physically, 3.908 psychologically, 4.143 in social
relations, and 4.587 in the environment, p value = 0.000 (p <
0.005), indicating the effect of self care on improving the
quality of life of pregnant women in the time of the Covid-19
Pandemic. In conclusion, self-care has a significant effect on
the quality of life of pregnant women during the Covid-19
pandemic.
